Indonesian ecommerce company Bizzy has acquired a startup called Alpha. The terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
Bizzy supplies other businesses with office equipment, electronics, stationary, and so on, in bulk. The little-known startup Alpha has expertise in things like raw materials and spare parts, making it valuable to Bizzy’s business, the firm said in a press release. Another reason for the acquisition is Alpha’s experienced team.
Post-acquisition, Alpha’s CEO Andrew Mawikere will become Bizzy’s new CEO.
Prior to starting Alpha earlier this year, he’d been the co-founder and CEO of Bizzy competitor MBiz, a startup run by the Lippo Group conglomerate. Mawikere also previously worked at Astra International, Temasek, and J.P. Morgan.
Bizzy’s former CEO, Peter Goldsworthy, will take on a new role as Bizzy’s president.
