Is China the future? Here’s why Jack Ma’s supremely confident in the Middle Kingdom:

I’ve been traveling to so many countries last year and the year before. I think I have sole confidence in China. Number one: the stability of the political system. People criticize China for the one-Party system, but you see: in the past 20 or 30 years, amazing things have changed.

In America, Democratic, Republican you don’t know, you’ll get confused! The policy of democracy is always changing. You don’t know who will be the next President. China? Stabilized. Second, China is such a safe society. We don’t have more than 200 million guns [that people own]. 1.4 billion population, and it’s comparatively the safest country in the world.

And third, the market, in the past 30 years, China is big….But shallow, not deep. Today, China’s market is wide and deep. We’ve got 300 million middle-class people, which is almost the same size as America. In the next ten year’s we’re going to go above half a billion people being middle-class. We have layers of different income people.

And the other thing that’s very important: we have talent. I think we’ve got more than 150 million people with a high degree of education. Which is almost like 50% of the American population.

And lastly, I am confident in this country, that this country is still talking about globalization, is still talking about open door policy and encouraging entrepreneurship. This is why I feel confidence about [China].
