Gaming hardware startup Razer has just revealed its first ever phone. It’s a US$699 Android-powered beast designed for smartphone gamers, with an emphasis on a slick screen, strong speakers, and a massive battery.
Key specs:
- 5.72-inch QHD LCD screen that can refresh at 120Hz for frantic gaming action
- 8GB RAM
- Snapdragon 835 chip
- 4,000 mAh battery
- Two 12-megapixel cameras on the rear
- Aluminium chassis
Although a Singapore-born company, Razer is focusing on Western markets for the initial Razer Phone rollout, with launches in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Denmark, and Sweden. Pre-orders open later today, with sales kicking off November 17.
The Razer Phone is basically a dark-side version of the cutesy Nextbit Robin, following Razer’s acquisition of the fledgling phone maker at the start of the year.
The launch comes ahead of Razer’s US$4.5 billion IPO, slated for November 13.
