Facebook now has 2 billion people who use it at some point each month – but Mark Zuckerberg’s social network is seeing slowing growth as its global ubiquity – well, except in China – makes it harder and harder to find new users.
At the heart of the slowdown is Asia. It’s long been Facebook’s fastest growing region, but it’s now decelerating too – as seen clearly when we superimpose quarterly growth stats onto Facebook’s latest chart:

Despite all that, Facebook pulled in higher than expected revenue of US$9.3 billion from April to June, primarily from mobile ads.
Some other user highlights:
- Two-thirds of Facebook users access it each day
- That means 1.3 billion daily active users globally
- 453 million of which are in Asia
- WhatsApp now has 1 billion chatters each day
- WhatsApp Stories, its Snapchat clone, now has 250 million daily users
A handful of $$$ highlights:
- 17 percent of Facebook’s revenue derives from Asia
- Its Asia revenues have doubled since early 2016
- Facebook makes an average US$2.13 from each Asia user – compared to US$19.38 in the US and Canada
- Record profit of US$3.9 billion from April to June
- Facebook is now worth US$478 billion
