1. Validus Capital | Singapore (Startup Profile)

Fintech startup Validus Capital is an online lending platform. It uses a proprietary algorithm to make credit assessments of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on behalf of prospective lenders, who must be accredited investors under Singaporean law.


2. Stay on Skill | India

On Stay on Skill, guests can provide some proof of their skills – like a video or a certificate – to apply for free stay in destinations of their choice. They are matched with hosts in those destinations who offer accommodation to travelers for free, in exchange for learning a skill.


3. Instarem | Singapore (Startup Profile)

Singapore-headquartered Instarem is a disruptor in cross-border remittances space. It reduces the cost of money transfers due to the “FX spread” that banks impose. It first launched in Australia then got licences in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Canada. From these countries, it can transfer money to 50 countries currently.


4. Ruangguru | Indonesia (Startup Profile)

Edtech startup Ruangguru’s main offering is a tutoring marketplace, which allows tutors and students to connect and arrange one-on-one classes. The startup also includes an online test preparation platform and an on-demand homework help app, where students can post questions and get a response from a tutor right away.


5. White Merak | Myanmar (Startup Profile)

White Merak has developed a reader app that lets you view animated comic books on mobile devices. The comics themselves are either written by its in-house team, or by famous Myanmar authors and cartoonists.
