Brief: Indonesia’s largest telco to unban Netflix

Netflix HQ entrance
  • The world’s leading video streaming site Netflix has worked out a deal with Indonesia’s largest telco, Telkom. This means Netflix will soon be available to Telkom users.
  • Telkom already offers users a slate of streaming options and Netflix competitors like Catchplay, iFlix, and Hooq.
  • The majority state-owned telco originally blocked Netflix allegedly for its “inappropriate” and pornographic” content. In addition, the streaming service didn’t have a license to operate in the country, Telkom claimed.
  • Netflix made a splashy entrance onto the global stage in early January when it announced it would expand to 130 countries at once.
