RevivalTV is just seven months old and it’s already Indonesia’s most hottest medium for eSports. Although, granted, the scene is still fairly nascent.

The global eSports market – i.e.: watching people play games, often in front of a live or an online audience – is expected to grow to US$1.1 billion by 2019, with Asia accounting for 44 percent of that.

Esports are already popular in China and Korea, and there are signs of it picking up in Southeast Asia.

Revival TV’s main source of revenue is live events, but it raised venture capital to improve the quality of its web content and live streams.

Its backer is DNC, a US$10 million fund initiated by China-based Zhexin IT that’s dedicated to developing the gaming industry in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia. The size of the deal was not disclosed.

Prior to Revival, DNC backed two Indonesian game development studios, Touchten and Toge Productions.
