1. Maximilian Bittner, CEO, Lazada Group

Since its early days as an etailer, Lazada has made huge strides in establishing its position as an e-commerce behemoth in Southeast Asia – a market that is home to over 560 million consumers.

As the CEO, Max is the driving force behind Lazada’s success in all six of its operating countries. He played an instrumental role in their successful transition from a direct sales model into a marketplace for buyers and sellers – diversifying its offerings to include nearly every product category under the sun.

2. Vanessa Larco, Partner, New Enterprise Associates

NEA, which just started raising a new US$3 billion fund, welcomed Vanessa on board as a Partner in 2016. Through her previous roles at Box and Microsoft, she brings a wealth of experience in product management to NEA’s consumer and enterprise investing practices.

Besides being a skilled technologist, Vanessa is also quite an entrepreneur herself. She co-founded FunLoop, a mobile entertainment platform for kids, and is passionate about helping other founders bring their products to life. Most recently, Vanessa was voted one of the Top 100 most influential women in Silicon Valley.

3. Ankiti Bose, CEO, Zilingo

Fashion-focused e-commerce startup, Zilingo, was the center of attention when they closed an impressive US$8 million Series A late last year. They’ll be using these funds to capture new markets and increase their presence in Southeast Asia.

The young startup is the brainchild of former Sequoia India analyst Ankiti Bose (CEO) and ex-Yahoo engineer Dhruv Kapoor (CTO). Ankiti has significant experience and a knowledge network in the mobile e-commerce space. She also spends her free time mentoring young women in the technology space.

4. Hian Goh, Managing Partner, NSI Ventures

Hian is a successful entrepreneur and is the man behind Asian Food Channel, which was acquired by Scripps Networks for US$66 million in 2013.

Today, he is a venture capitalist and Managing Partner at NSI Ventures, a Series A venture capital fund focused on Technology and Internet companies in Southeast Asia. They hold an impressive portfolio of investments that include notable names such as Gojek, Redmart, Chope and Zimplistic.

5. Alex Macpherson, Managing Partner, Octopus Ventures

Alex was once like many entrepreneurs. In 2000, he started his private angel network business, which was sold to Octopus seven years later. Under his leadership, the assets that Octopus manages has risen to around US$900M – establishing itself as one of the leading venture capital houses in the UK.

Alex firmly believes that people make the difference in business. His belief has helped the team to build a diverse portfolio of investments including successes like Zoopla, Swiftkey and Graze.com.
