I’m not sure how it happened, but it’s already the second last week of December. In the past twelve months, there were many milestones for Tech in Asia’s events and conference team. For one, we organised four successful conferences in Singapore, Bangalore, Tokyo and Jakarta – something we have not done before in our 5-year conference history.
Before we close the door on 2016, we thought we’d look back on some highlights that made it a memorable one for us. Ready to jump in?
Facebook’s co-founder made a rare appearance
Facebook’s co-founder Eduardo Saverin is known to shy away from the limelight. But he made a rare appearance on stage at Tech in Asia Singapore 2016 to share his take on building startups. A full house was an understatement; the main hall was packed to the brim and attendees spilled out to the aisles during his talk to soak in his words of wisdom. Eduardo was the star of the show, without a shadow of doubt.
(Disclosure: Eduardo Saverin is also an investor in Tech in Asia. Please see our ethics page for details.)
Our debut in Bangalore
July 6: the day we made our highly anticipated conference debut in the Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore. The inaugural conference was an eye-opener for many as we connected India’s vibrant community with the region’s.
The introduction of our new conference segment, Roundtables, upped the buzz level too. Despite some hiccups, we received great feedback on the value that Roundtables brought to our attendees and proceeded to introduce it for the second time at Tech in Asia Jakarta 2016. We’ve got plans to include this segment at Tech in Asia Singapore 2017 too (with a slight twist!) so keep your eyes peeled.
Revamped content format
For the first time, we rolled out an all-new multi-stage format at our third edition of Tech in Asia Tokyo. With a single conference pass, attendees were treated to five different expert stages, each packed with content tailored to today’s biggest trends and chock-full of hands-on advice on the hottest tech domains.
A record-breaking show
Tech in Asia Jakarta has traditionally been our largest conference. And it was no different this year. We concluded the year on a high with 5,390 attendees from 34 countries, breaking our own records for having the largest attendance in Tech in Asia’s conference history!
That said, we aim to break records every year – so Tech in Asia Jakarta 2017 will be another one for the books.
The year ahead
2017 marks an exciting chapter for Tech in Asia. Building on your feedback, we have plans to make Tech in Asia’s conferences even more valuable and meaningful for anyone who is interested in the tech scene. Whether you’re a past attendee or completely new to our events, we’ve got some great stuff in store for you.
And for the long-awaited news…
Tech in Asia Singapore will be back for its sixth run on May 17 & 18! For now, we’re keeping mum on the exciting line-up of events in store, but hold on tight for now and save the date.
For the early birds, you can now secure passes at half the price when you register for a 2-for-1 code today! It only takes one minute (or less) to fill in your details. One minute in return for a 50 percent discount’s too good a deal to pass – so don’t sit on it.
