Plug and Play Indonesia announced its first batch of startups today. After a two-month selection process, 11 companies out of 400 applicants were chosen.
Plug and Play Indonesia is an official offshoot of the Plug and Play accelerator from the US, which was initiated by investor Saeed Amidi, who famously participated in PayPal’s first round of investment.
In the US, Plug and Play’s been around since 2006. Hundreds of companies ran through its program – including Dropbox and Lending Club. In Indonesia, the first round begins now.
Each startup in the first batch will receive US$50,000 in seed funding and mentorship. More so than most other startup accelerators, PNP works closely with corporate partners, bringing them together with startup founders early on.
