An overwhelming number of Indians want to start out on their own, and most entrepreneurs have it in them to not let the prospect of failure daunt their ambitions, a recent survey says.
US-based GoDaddy, a technology provider dedicated to small businesses, said 60 percent of Indians currently working in small or mid-sized organizations want to start out on their own and become entrepreneurs. GoDaddy surveyed 1200 respondents in India for its ‘Future of Work’ survey, a global study that sifts through “entrepreneurial intent, attitudes and outlook when considering starting or running a small business.”
The proportion of those wanting to start their own business is significantly higher in India when compared to Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Turkey, Singapore, the United States, and the United Kingdom, the survey showed.
85 percent of aspiring and current entrepreneurs in India said that they were undeterred by the prospect of failure, and 70 percent of respondents mentioned that they were either employed or working when they decided to start their own business.
In other trends, 45 percent of those surveyed said work experience was the most valuable metric for them, while only 12 percent believe education prepares them to become an entrepreneur.
62 percent wanted their business to go international and have global customers.
